Rebuking Young Elders

Dr. Jimmy Scroggins, the Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, FL, recently preached in the SEBTS chapel. From 1 Peter 5:1-11 he sounded a warning to young men in ministry. His uses outstanding exposition and timely illustration to rebuke young elders on the vice of pride. Along with his rebuke, he offers a remedy. Men, this is a classic. You must hear and heed this.

For the record, this message convicted me personally. After 6 years of ministry, I would think that I would have progressed in this battle. Maybe I did, but followed it by regressing in my never ending seesaw of pride & humility. Thank you, Dr. Scroggins! Your words are timely and necessary.

The church of Jesus Christ critically needs young elders, but can’t afford young elders consumed by pride and selfish ambition.
